Thunder Tuesday

Yesterday was the first official Thunder Tuesday (previously Thunder Thursday) at the HMI group. The general idea is that students, PhD’s and staff members work together on a fun project to be used as a demo for the HMI group.

We started out with the idea of making a Nao robot read a newspaper, gazing at people walking by, and then trying its best to ignore people that note the Nao. Through a brainstorming session that involved Nao drugdealers, and Nao prostitutes, we decided in the end on making a Neo beggar: a Nao trying to get passerby’s to put a coin in a coin box and doing a happy-dance as a result. We didn’t manage to finish it in one evening, but it was fun! Here are some pictures of the process:
